The National Cancer Institute (NCI) will be constructed in the site located within the 300 acres acquired by the AIIMS in Jhajjar, Haryana, which is about one hour drive from AIIMS. At present, there is no space in the existing AIIMS campus to house a facility like the National Cancer Institute. The present cancer centre at the AIIMS, the Dr, BR Ambedkar Institute-Rotary Cancer Hospital, is already overloaded and has no scope of future expansion.
